Hi!
Many of you will know that before I went to University, I took a gap year and travelled to India to teach for 4 months. It was the most amazing experience, and the country kind of stole my heart. So I'm going back!
I'm just coming to the end of a 3 year degree in English Language and Literature in Education at the University of Birmingham, and although I have secured a place on a PGCE (teacher training) course, I can't resist the opportunity to get out there and have some more fun; and return to India.
THIS time, I am going to be a Sangam Volunteer!
Sangam is one of 4 World Guiding Centres and it hosts conferences, runs community programmes, offers beds to travelling members of guiding and scouting, and much more besides! My role will be to help out there in a whole load of different ways and I know it's going to be a lot of fun.
I'm going to aim to write this blog regularly before I go out there; updating you on my preparations and my thoughts and feelings about the global Girlguiding/ scouting movement, but the main purpose is to keep people up-to-date with my adventures during the 6 months I'll be there. I don't leave until the beginning of October, so still a while to go yet, but I figured getting the blog up and running is one more thing off the list.
I'm going to end here, but will try to post some links and information soon so that all of you who don't really have a clue what I'm on about can discover more about this next exciting venture of mine!
